The Business and Industry Association, in partnership with New Hampshire High Technology Council, New Hampshire Manufacturing Extension Partnership and The New Hampshire Division of Economic Development, present the Eighth Annual Governor's Advanced Manufacturing and High Technology Summit on Tuesday, September 28th at the Radisson, Manchester.

The keynote speaker is Charles E. "Gus" Whalen, Jr. Chairman of the Warren Featherbone Company in Gainesville, Georgia. His dynamic presentation, "Hooked at the Roots", relates the real-life evolution of The Warren Featherbone Company which was founded in 1883. In its remarkable 127-year history, Warren companies have been active in manufacturing, banking, agriculture, publishing and philanthropy. Most recently, Warren Featherbone has helped create Featherbone "Communiversity", a learning community which provides collaborative, cross-generational learning through an unique alliance among educational institutions, the first of its kind in the United States.

Gus Whalen is the Chairman of the Warren Featherbone Company and directs the efforts of the Warren Featherbone Foundation. He is the author of several books: The Featherbone Principle: A Declaration of Interdependence was published in 1996 and reprinted in 2001. His second book, The Featherbone Spirit, Celebrating Life's Connections was published in 2000 and includes a special supplement on the role and work of foundations in America. The Gift of Renewal was published in 2003.

Concurrent workshops, presented by the New Hampshire Manufacturing Extension Partnership, include:

The Fall elections are just around the corner, and political power, both at the state and federal level, hangs in the balance. New Hampshire is a battleground state and the nation's eyes are on key Granite State House and Senate races. At the state level, as we head into a new legislative year, the question is who will be driving the ship? Will Democrats be able to retain their majorities in the House or will Republicans be swept back into power?

No need to wait until November 3rd to find out as the Business & Industry Association presents an "Election Forecast Luncheon with Andy Smith", UNH Survey Center director, on October 7th in the Curriers Room at the Radisson, Manchester. A frequent guest on National news shows, and a well-known observer of New Hampshire politics, Andy provides an entertaining and provocative look at the "whos", "hows" and "whys" of the 2010 election cycle.
