- The White Mountain Golf Classic at the Mount Washington Resort is a great opportunity for golfers to play the recently renovated Donald Ross course during peak leaf season.

CONCORD, N.H. – Aug. 24, 2009 – On Oct. 5, the Business and Industry Association will present the White Mountain Golf Classic at the Mount Washington Resort. This will be the BIA’s first golf tournament to be held at the resort’s recently renovated, 18-hole Donald Ross golf course.

The White Mountain Golf Classic, which is open to the public, will include first-, second- and third-place prizes provided by the Mount Washington Resort, longest-drive and closest-to-the-pin competitions, mulligans, and continental breakfast and lunch for all players. Golfers also have the chance to win either a Porsche or Audi by making a hole in one on the fifth hole. The hole-in-one prize is provided by International Cars Limited. The entry fee is $550 for a team of four or $150 for an individual. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. and the shotgun tournament will kick off at 10 a.m.

Players are also eligible for a special room rate of $149 per person/single occupancy or $86 per person/double occupancy, plus a $20 amenity fee per room. The rate includes breakfast. Players should mention the BIA tournament when making room reservations to receive the discounted rate. Call 1-800-258-0330 for room reservations.

“We are excited to present the golf classic on this beautiful, recently renovated course in the White Mountains,” said Jim Roche, BIA president and CEO. “We anticipate great Indian summer weather this year during peak leaf season and hope our members take advantage of this opportunity to enjoy the exclusive Mount Washington Resort and a great day of golf.”

Legendary Scottish Architect Donald Ross designed the 18-hole Mount Washington golf course, which was originally completed in 1915. This par 71 course has hosted four New Hampshire Opens and reopened Aug. 1, 2008, after being restored to Donald Ross' original plans by golf course architect Brian Silva. The course includes bunkers crafted in a classic flair, infinite varieties of recovery shots in the closely cropped areas around the putting greens, and stunning views of the Mount Washington Hotel and surrounding mountains.

To register for the White Mountain Golf Classic at the Mount Washington Resort, call 603-224-5388 x116 or email cducharme@nhbia.org. If the tournament is cancelled due to inclement weather, players will receive a full refund for their entry fee. The room reservations are non-refundable.
